ASD isn’t the same for everyone, but there are some shared experiences many autistic people relate to. Some describe feeling like they don’t quite “get the joke” or that they’re slightly out of sync with the social rhythm around them. Autism is a wide spectrum, with many different strengths, challenges, and ways of experiencing the world.
A helpful way to picture it is this: if most people’s brains are tuned to FM radio, an autistic brain might be tuned to satellite radio — picking up details others miss, but sometimes missing the signals others find obvious.
